Absence Declaration

Absence Declaration

Declare an Absence

If you are or will be temporarily absent from your studies and need to request academic consideration for a missed academic obligation (e.g., a test, quiz or paper), you can formally declare your absence here. This creates an official record of your absence that can be used to support your request, so that you do not need to present additional supporting documentation.

  • You may declare one absence per session (e.g., one in the Fall and one in the Winter).
  • Absences can be for a maximum of seven consecutive days in the current session, and the date range must include today.
  • You may edit a declaration until 11:59PM ET on the same day that you added it.
  • You cannot cancel absences.
  • An absence declaration does not initiate the process of requesting academic consideration and it is your responsibility to do so in addition to declaring an absence (e.g., through following instructions provided by your instructor in your course syllabus).

Read more about the Absence Declaration process and find your division's specific procedures for absences or academic consideration. If you are feeling distressed, please visit the Well-Being Support tab for on-campus and community resources. For questions or concerns about your absences, contact your divisional registrar's office.

You currently have no absences declared for the current academic session (2026 Winter) and previous academic session (2025 Fall).
